I engage primarily in physical thingmakery, though I do use digital design tools as a step in the process, whether that's in the form of designing for the laser engraver, the 3D printer, or the laser printer (for further transfer to other media). I'm ADHD and I love learning new things, so you'll find a wide assortment of disciplines represented here. For most of these, I do them well enough to teach the basics to others.

  • a photo of a bookmark that was given out at a special event. The bookmark was made by printing the design (an owl in a jester crown) on 'parchment' cardstock, then a laser engraver was used to cut each individual bookmark out of the sheet, including the hole for the tassel.

Raw Icelandic wool locks have been incorporated in the exterior face of the weaving, creating a kind of 'faux fur' pile. This type of weaving was common in Scandinavia during the middle ages.

  • a phogo of a hand-knitted cup sleeve on a typical 20 oz to-go cup from a coffee shop. The sleeve has a cabled pattern and two sewn-on buttons that resemble an owl. The yarn is speckled oatmeal in color.

  • A photo of a silk scarf. The scarf is scrunched up somewhat to include the entire length without making the photo extra wide. The scarf is painted party per fes azure and Or (blue and yellow) with the division line consisting of counterchanged tridents. Painted using the serti method and Dye-na-flow paint.

  • a photo of three wooden (oak) thread holder chips. Each thread holder has an overall square shape with a rounded indent at the center of each edge to facilitate the wrapping of yarn or thread. Each thread holder has been laser engraved with one-quarter of a lacy mandala design that features owls and vines, arranged so that the center of the mandala is at one corner. If you were to arrange four thread winders in a two-by-two square you would have the entire mandala displayed.

  • a photo of ten handmade glass beads threaded on a mandrel. Each bead is different, but they all generally share a color theme of blue and yellow

  • a photo of an assortment of ribbon wands in a glass vase. Each wand is painted a different color and has chunky glitter glued to the ribbon end. A thin coating of epoxy resin over each wand keeps the glitter from traveling. Each wand has a plume of ribbons in coordinating colors attached to an eye screw set into the 'ribbon' end of each wand.
